Equation: a balanced state? Installations by Katherine Bash, Paula Castillo, Ted Laredo, David Niec and Mayumi Nishida, curated by Thomas and Edite Cates of THE LAND/an art site. More details

October 3 – November 21, 2009:
Separating Species, a two-part project with: Grasslands: The Chihuahuan Desert, the photographic work by Michael P. Berman; and Natural Links, a group exhibition about animals, humans, the biosphere and the U.S./Mexico border, including the work of Krista Elrick, Dana Fritz and David Taylor. June 28 – September 20, 2009:
Experimental Geography, a group exhibition curated by Nato Thompson, which explores the relationships between geographical study and artistic experience of the earth – with computer kiosks, sound and video installations, photography, sculpture, and experimental cartography. More details


 

 

Bosque School

October 2009:
Guest artist Patrick Dougherty will create a site-specific work on the grounds of the school along the Rio Grande. Bosque School is also creating a curriculum for their students inspired by the work of Aldo Leopold in conjunction with a yearlong Aldo Leopold celebration. More details


   
  Center for Contemporary Arts

The Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe will present LAND/ART projects with New York artist Ward Shelley and New Mexico artist Basia Irland. More details


 
 
 

City of Albuquerque Open Space

Open Space will present a group of temporary outdoor projects at Open Space sites, with a map and hiking tour of the works, and a pair of exhibitions in the Open Space Visitor Center Gallery. More details


 
 

City of Albuquerque Public Art Program

The City of Albuquerque Public Art Program will issue a call for proposals for a land art installation to be completed as a part of the City of Albuquerque's Public Art Program. It will be located on the west side of Albuquerque near the existing City of Albuquerque Open Space Visitor Center. More details

The Harwood Art Center will present outdoor works on the Center’s grounds; offer Outdoor Site-Specific Sculpture, a class for teens and adults, including a visit with Patrick Dougherty; and host an exhibition of photographs documenting Dougherty’s sculptures in conjunction with his project at Bosque School. Richard Levy Gallery is currently accepting proposals for innovative projects that relate to land art or earth art for LAND/ART which extends from summer 2009 through the late fall. They will present three separate exhibits on the theme of Land Art. More details


 
 

National Hispanic Cultural Center

The National Hispanic Cultural Center will present a large-scale, outdoor community altar in celebration of Día de Muertos on November 1, 2009 in partnership with lead-artist Catalina Delgado Trunk. The theme of the 2009 ofrenda will be “Conserving our future, honoring our past” - exploring issues of environmental heritage and conservation. More details


 
  University of New Mexico Art Museum

Fall 2009:
UNM Art Museum will present */Dispersal/Return/*, guest curated by Bill Gilbert, director of the Land Arts of the American West program at UNM. The exhibition will focus on work produced by former Land Arts students since graduation and will include works created on site. Concurrent with this exhibition, the UNM Art Museum will host a one-person exhibition of Professor Gilbert’s work inspired by his field investigations in the Land Arts program.
